FAQ
The City has marked a portion of my sidewalk - What is that all about?

The City of Celina has an Annual Sidealk Program. Every Spring walks are marked in a quadrant of the City known as Ward I, II, III, or IV. The sidewalks marked are scheduled for repair/replacement due to current or projected safety issues such as a raised area of a walk or other issues that can now or will soon cause a hazard when walking in the area marked.

One Ward is addressed per year. If you find your walk marked you will be contacted by the City by certified letter as to why the walk was marked and an estimated cost for the City to replace the marked section.

You will have 75 days to do the repairs or hired them done by a contractor. If after that time the repairs are not finished the City will have their awarded contractor do the work. You will be billed for this work when the work in the Ward is complete.

Should you have any questions regarding this program please call the Engineering Department at 419.586.1144.

A zoning permit as well as a State Builidng permit is required for most new signs. One is also required for certain changes to existing signs. Permits are required PRIOR to the placement of a new or changed sign. Please call the Engineering Office 419.586.1144 for sign regulations or review those regulations in our Zoning Code Section 1185.

With regards to State permits, ALL commercial signs will be reviewed and permitted through Miami County Building Regulations office in Troy. Please call Robert Bowman at 937-440-8066 should you have questions concerning State sign permits.

Do I need a permit to put up a fence or place a deck, shed, pool (larger than 12' diameter) or garage in my yard? Even if the shed is on skids and not on a permanent foundation? What about placing an addition onto my house, garage or shed?

Answer: Yes, Yes and Yes

You need to acquire an accessory building permit before construction/addition of a shed or  fence to your property.  The information you will be asked to provide is listed below.

  1. Name of owner and address where work is being done.
  2. Name of person doing the work if different than the owner, and approximate cost of improvements.
  3. You will need to know approximate location of shed, fence, or addition in relation to your property lines and existing buildings on your property.
  4. We need to know the height and/or square footage of the structure being built.
  5. You will need to stake or mark where the new construction will be placed on your property.
